10 Summer Must-Haves

Summer is in full gear over in the Lillie house! And after not getting out of the house last summer, this summer will definitely be one for the record books as we meet back up with family and friends. I wanted to round-up my 10 summer must-haves for you (in no particular order). The list consists of a little bit of fashion as well as beauty and home finds for the perfect summer. Grab a popsicle and let’s go! What’s on your summer must-have list?

1. Swimsuit & Cover-up You Love

We live by the pool all summer, so of course a swimsuit made the list! Remember – when it comes to swimsuits, it’s not about what anyone else thinks but you. Find one that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful! I tend to lean towards one-piece swimsuits. There are so many cute styles out there! On the other hand, I’m also here to tell you – don’t be afraid of the two-piece swimsuit. I’ve found that I also really like the way I look in a two-piece bathing suit that has high waisted bottoms. These bottoms are so cute and flattering! A cover up that you feel comfortable in goes hand-in-hand with the swimsuit. Find one that has the right amount of coverage for you.

2. Versatile Maxi Dress

I also suggest making sure you have a great maxi dress in your closet. Find one in a neutral color that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. If you’re going to a casual BBQ, throw on a maxi dress! It’s a cute outfit solution, but it’s also going to keep you cool in the summer heat. Alternatively, if you get invited to a last-minute dinner with friends a maxi dress a great one-and-done option.

3. Denim Shorts

Denim shorts are definitely a summer closet staple! They are so versatile and a casual outfit must-have. Find one that fits your curves. I love this pair because they’re cut in a bit of a flare in the legs. I’m wearing true to size.

4. Hat

Is a hat not one of your go-to accessories? It should be! They’re a way to look fashionable and protect your skin at the same time. Use it as a defense against sun spots and premature aging. I love a great Panama hat, but picked up a few straw visors for this summer, too!

5. Summer makeup

If you’re outside all day at a picnic or in the pool the last thing you want to think about it your makeup. Wearing too much can make it feel like it’s melting off – ew! I like going with an overall look that’s lightweight but still enhances. One of my favorites to use is this tinted moisturizer. It’s also got SPF 47! 6. Sunscreen

The most important item on the list is sunscreen! I actually have a different sunscreen for different areas of my body. You live in your skin for your whole life, make sure you take care of it! 7. Grill & accessories

What’s a summer without a backyard BBQ? It doesn’t have to be basic, either! Try kabobs or cedar plank salmon on the grill to spice up the usual menu of burgers and hot dogs. (Just a reminder – don’t forget to check the level on your propane before your guests arrive!) Add a smoker to your grilling gadgets for a flavor that guests won’t stop raving about. 8. Outdoor Games & toys

Everyone’s in the backyard, they’ve been fed one of your culinary masterpieces from the grill…now what? Don’t forget to grab some fun outdoor games and toys. Whether you have pool or an open patio, check out this inflatable bags game! It floats or it can be staked to the ground for hours of outdoor entertainment. It’s definitely a favorite of ours so far this summer!

9. Water Bottle & Cooler

That summer heat is draining! No matter what it takes, you need to stay hydrated. You’ll not only feel better, but it improves your skin as well. I love this water bottle from Amazon! It has times of the day labels so you can steadily reach your goal of drinking water throughout the day. Depending on what we’re doing I also love grabbing one of these insulated water bottles or this cooler and a can cooler.

10. Hosting Essentials

I love to host our friends and family! It makes me so happy when everyone is together and enjoying themselves. Hosting a group is just a bit different than hanging out with your immediate family meaning it can require a few additional serving pieces. Love these serving trays we picked up from Walmart. I also stocked up this year on some more plate tents and another beverage dispenser.
